Joshua Sorg Accepts Role as Assistant IT Manager with Oak View Group, Amalie Arena

I’m thrilled to officially share that I’ve accepted the position of Assistant Information Technology Manager with Oak View Group (OVG) at Amalie Arena here in Tampa, Florida.

This opportunity means a lot to me—not just as a career milestone, but as a continuation of the impactful work I’ve been doing at this incredible venue. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of managing and optimizing IT systems at Amalie Arena under Delaware North. Now, stepping into this new role with OVG feels like a natural progression—and an exciting new chapter.

What I’ll Be Doing

As Assistant IT Manager, I’ll be helping lead the charge in keeping our food and beverage technologies running smoothly, especially during live events when every second counts. That includes overseeing the performance and optimization of systems like:

  • POS (Point of Sale) systems

  • Inventory management platforms

  • Digital signage and menu boards

  • Event-based technology solutions

I’ll be supporting our amazing frontline technical staff, supervising operations, and helping ensure we stay aligned with security best practices and compliance standards. I’ll also serve as the go-to for IT needs during events—because when the Lightning hit the ice or a concert crowd packs the arena, the last thing you want is a system hiccup.

Why This Role Feels Like Home

Working at Amalie Arena has already been an incredibly rewarding experience. From overseeing over 200+ POS devices and helping introduce the MyVenue POS system to leading the integration of ServiceNow ticketing solutions, I’ve always thrived on challenges that combine technology, user experience, and operational efficiency.

But what excites me most about this new role is the chance to lead, innovate, and collaborate with a team that shares the same commitment to excellence. Oak View Group’s vision for live events and venue technology is unmatched—and to be part of that energy is truly inspiring.

A Little Gratitude

To everyone who’s supported me along the way—thank you. From team members I’ve worked alongside during hectic game nights to mentors who encouraged me to think bigger, your support helped me get here.

And to those of you striving for your next step in tech, hospitality, or live events—keep pushing. The opportunities are out there, and they often begin right where you already are.
